Futureproof is back and in a completely new format! đ€© We will focus on personal development and skills. 3 full days of trainings, an inspiring keynote and we will end the day by going out in the city and do something in return for our host city Utrecht. Names of speakers will be dropped soonđ€
But we have some exciting news to share: Event 1 & 2 will definetily be held on a Saturday and all events will be in Utrecht! So we do not have the hassle of exams, mandatory classes and other things.
Want to sign up? Keep an eye out on Enactus Connect. The registrations will start from September onwards (deadline 1st of October)! We have only 130 spots available (for students who can be present at ALL three events) – first come first serve!Â
The mission of Enactus is: âTo enable students to develop themselves into entrepreneurial and responsible leadersâ. But what embodies an entrepreneurial and responsible leader and how do we become one? If we break it down, we can define the following.Â
An entrepreneurial leader is someone who is courageous. They have the courage to fail because she knows she will always get back up again and therefore is resilient. They dare to step into the unknown and therefore drives innovation. And last but not least, an entrepreneurial leader is able to make true authentic connections.
A responsible leader is someone who takes responsibility for their own actions and mental state. They are aware of their influence and power and uses it to improve the lives of others. A responsible leader doesnât let their ego take the better of them and therefore is curious to hear other perspectives and doesnât think they have all the answers.
Leadership is about the willingness to step up, put yourself out there, and be courageous. With the enormous societal and environmental threats we are facing, the world is desperate for brave and authentic leaders, we call it futureproof leadership. It’s time for all of us to step up.
How to develop futureproof leadership skills and mindset? How do we become these courageous and authentic leaders the world is so hungry for? Together with Enactus, the Social Impact Factory and Starters4Communities, we designed the Futureproof – Dare to lead program in a way that you can experiment, play and have fun with your first steps. Because it doesnât matter who you are, where you come from or what your talent is, futureproof leadership is a mindset that can and must be practiced.
//Traditional leadership was focused on directive, top-down management. The boss was expected to know the answers, or at least what to do. He, it was usually a man, would tell people what to do . . . and they did what they were told. Traditional leadership is about control, rules, regulations, and boundaries while modern leadership involves sharing information, creating a higher level of trust, and promoting a sense of inclusion and belonging. These new leaders care and invest more time into their team members’ wellbeing, career goals, contributions, and accomplishments.//
The outline
The Futureproof – dare to lead program is built around three live events. The first event is focussed on the leader itself – you. Who are you, what are your core values, what drives you and what do you want to contribute? The second event is focussed on the interaction between you and the people around you. What happens in the interaction between you and another person, how do you connect with others and build true and authentic relationships? The third event is about your role and responsibility in the bigger picture. What is the message you want to get out there and how can you use your talents and skills for a better world?
Â
All events will kick off with an inspirational keynote who will give an introduction on the day’s topic. The afternoon will be filled with interactive and intensive workshops. And before we hit the bar, we roll up our sleeves and we âwalk the talkâ. We clean the neighborhood, help out the local community or give our support to a social startup. We finish off with a social drink and a bag full of inspiration.
Event 1 – Dare to lead the self ( the leader) | November 19, 10:00 – 18:00 @Utrecht
We all know the metaphor of the oxygen mask. You put your own mask on first before you help others. So the first step in becoming a futureproof leader is to take a deep dive into the self. Questions like; Who am I? What do I want and need? What drives me? What are my values? Where does my behavior and conditioning come from? What is the role of self care in my day to day life? – will be raised and maybe even answered.Â
Event 2 – Dare to lead the team | February 11, 10:00 – 18:00 @Utrecht
When weâve figured out what our values are and how we all have our own stories and perspectives on the world, it is time to take a closer look at our interactions with the world around us. Questions like; what is my preferred style of communication? How do I build strong and authentic relationships? Am I truly present and open for connection? How do group dynamics influence my team? These questions center this event and will challenge you to be brutally honest towards yourself and others.
Event 3 – Dare to lead society | April 14 or 15 10:00 – 18:00 @Utrecht
When we have a better understanding of our interaction with the world around us, we can take a first step into leading in line with our values. This third and final event we focus on; What does it mean to walk the talk? How can I use my talent to make a positive and lasting impact in the world? What is my circle of influence? How do I lean into the unknown? What is my story and how do I get my message across? This final day we will discuss what it means to not let your ego get in the way of what truly matters to make a lasting impact.
