But first: who is Jeroen? Read the interview below to get to know our new board member.
Who is Jeroen van Hooff, and what is your connection to Enactus?
In October 2023, the Enactus World Cup took place at the Beatrix Theater in Jaarbeurs. Thirty international student teams presented their most impactful sustainability ideas. In the theater’s foyer, people sang and danced. The atmosphere was special; seeing all these different nationalities come together in harmony was truly a goosebumps moment.
In my current role as CEO of Koninklijke Jaarbeurs, I work both nationally and internationally. We consider sustainability an integral part of every event. Sustainable entrepreneurship is not just a box to check; with every decision we make, we consider its impact.
Before entering the events industry, I worked for companies like Randstad. The importance of education and talent development has always been a key focus of mine. I have also enjoyed working with JINC for many years, an organization that helps young people on their way to employment. Every year, I welcome a ‘boss of tomorrow’ through JINC—it is amazing to see that every child has their own unique talents. And, of course, my two sons, Tim (22) and Daan (19). It is inspiring and educational to see how they view the world and the future.
What impact do you hope to make in this role?
Enactus is an important organization: it gives students the opportunity to present and realize their ideas for a more sustainable world. It brings together young people from different nationalities and encourages them to collaborate on innovative solutions to global challenges. Initiatives like these are crucial for promoting sustainability and developing the leaders of tomorrow. I hope to make a meaningful contribution to Enactus with my network, international experience, and commercial expertise.
If you could give one piece of advice to the future leaders of Enactus, what would it be?
Stay true to yourself.
